HCSF/HCSV Castle Rock HikeHCSF/HCSV Castle Rock Hike

Please join fellow alumni in a 6-8 mile hike at beautiful Castle Rock State Park.

This park encompasses over 5,200 acres of wildlands, and perches on the highest ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains, separating San Francisco and Monterey Bays. Above the fog and smog, the park offers over 35 miles of trails through a wide variety of plant and animal communities, interesting rock formations, and sweeping views of the San Lorenzo Valley and Pacific Ocean.

We will do a 6-8 mile loop starting from the park entrance to Castle Rock Trail camp, enjoying the views and the interesting rock formations.

This hike doesn’t have tremendous elevation gains, but the terrain can be quite steep and challenging in places. You should come prepared for moderate/strenuous exertions. And wear sensible hiking shoes.

Parking is a HUGE problem at this park (and I have a parking ticket from last year to prove it), so please try to carpool. Add yourself as a driver or a passenger on our carpool page:

We will meet at parking lot at Saratoga Gap to consolidate into as few cars as possible:

If unforeseen circumstances make you unable to attend, please let the event organizer know, so we can give your spot to someone on the waitlist.
