BIKE RIDE ACROSS THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE
Join us in a group bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge!
We will meet at the Blazing Saddles rental shop near Fisherman's wharf, where those who need to can rent bicycles and helmets. We will then bike through some well known (and scenic) San Francisco landmarks - Fort Mason, the Marina, and Crissy Field - before crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge. Once across, our route will take us through Fort Baker, Cavallo Point (if time permits) and on to Sausalito.
At this point, faster riders may choose to continue on to Tiburon. For those who opt out of the longer ride, there is plenty of dining, shopping, and sightseeing in Sausalito to keep us entertained, until we return to San Francisco via ferry.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:The ride from Fisherman's wharf to Sausalito is about 8 miles. Continuing on to Tiburon adds about 10 miles. The pace for the main group will be leisurely/beginner friendly, and there should be plenty of opportunities for photographs, and for pauses to take in the scenery. There are some uphill/climbing sections along this ride, so participants do need to be capable of short, moderate exertions.
IMPORTANT: If you need to rent a bicycle, please email John Yook '93 at jbyook@hotmail.com and let him know. We will be contacting Blazing Saddles a few days in advance to reserve bicycles. Again, if you need a bicycle rental, it is NOT enough to simply sign up for the event. You must also email John Yook at jbyook@hotmail.com. If you sign up for the event via the RSVP on the right but do not explicitly request a bicycle be reserved for you, we will assume you will bring your own bicycle.
