Panel on AI and Neurotech for Brain Health

We invite you to join Harvard Club of San Francisco and the Norther California Columbia University Alumni Club for a panel featured at SXSW focused on advances in machine learning, AI, and VR/AR that are revolutionizing mental health. The panel of experts including: Mimi Winsberg, MD; Walter Greenleaf, PhD and Arshya Vahabzadeh will explore how neuro-technologies can affect traditional medical settings, the ethics of the field and the future of the industry. This event is hosted in partnership with Harvard University alumni and TechCode Accelerator in MTV.

Panelist Bios

Mimi Winsberg, MD is a Harvard and Stanford-trained psychiatrist with over twenty years of clinical experience. She is currently the Psychiatry Lead at Ginger.io. Prior to that she served as medical director for Lyra Health. She completed a research fellowship at Stanford in brain imaging and mood disorders. Her combined experience in clinical practice, research, and digital health provide a unique perspective to inform evidence and measurement based digital therapeutics that impact behavior, and optimize mental health care delivery as well as clinical outcomes. Mimi is also a world ranked triathlete and writes about sports psychology and performance.

Walter Greenleaf, PhD is a research neuroscientist and medical product developer working at Stanford University. Walter is known internationally as an early pioneer in digital medicine and virtual environment technology, and is one of the leading authorities on medical applications of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Technology. He is currently a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Stanford University’s MediaX Program, and the Stanford Virtual Human Interaction Lab. In addition to his research at Stanford, Walter is and co-founder of Virtual Ventures, Chief Science Officer at Pear Therapeutics and Cognitive Leap, and Director of Technology Strategy for the University of Colorado National Behavioral Health Innovation Center.

Dr. Vahabzadeh is the Chief Medical Officer at Brain Power, a neuroscience-based company focused on the development of augmented reality and data-driven technologies for autism and behavioral health. He is also faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Vahabzadeh has trained in psychiatry, child psychiatry, and family medicine. He is an expert on the application of wearable, immersive, and digital therapeutics for brain disorders. He has over 20 national and international awards in medical research, leadership, and innovation, and was the youngest Council Chairman at the American Psychiatric Association. He is a 40 under 40 healthcare innovator, and has been described as one of the future leaders in psychiatry. Dr. Vahabzadeh has numerous publications in authoritative texts, and has been quoted or written for many media outlets including CNN, USAToday, Huffington Post, Boston Globe, and Nature. He is also the Innovation Officer at the Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy, the largest educational and consulting service for mental health in nation. He is a senior mentor for Neurolaunch, the world's first neuroscience startup accelerator.
