Design and print a suite of letterpress cards to help you rise to any occasion in perfect epistolary form.

Designed expressly for the HCSF membership, this beginning-level afternoon letterpress workshop led by master printer Mary Risala Laird will guide participants through the process of setting type, mixing ink, preparing a makeready, dealing with kiss-off, determining paper grain, pulling proofs, making corrections, printing, and distributing type and spacing.

Every student will print a suite of cards on European-sized card stock. The workshop will finish with a card exchange to round out participants’ collections.

Founded in 1996, the San Francisco Center for the Book is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the joy of books, bookmaking, and the book arts.
