Patrick Chung, Co-Founder and General Partner, XFund (Moderator)
Patrick is a founding partner of Xfund, the early-stage venture firm with offices in Silicon Valley and Cambridge. Prior to founding Xfund, Patrick was a partner at NEA and led the firm’s consumer and seed investment practices. He is a director of 23andMe, Curalate, Euclid, MeCommerce, Philo, and Ravel Law, and is actively involved with CrowdMed, IFTTT, Rock Health, and Upworthy. Past investments include Pulse (acquired by LinkedIn), Loopt (acquired by Green Dot), GoodGuide (acquired by Underwriters Laboratories), Xfire (acquired by Viacom), and Xoom (NASDAQ: XOOM). Prior to joining NEA, Patrick helped to grow ZEFER, an Internet services firm (acquired by NEC) to more than $100 million in annual revenues and more than 700 people across six global offices. Prior to ZEFER, Patrick was with McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in hardware, software, and services companies. Patrick received a joint JD-MBA degree from Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, where he served as an Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Patrick was a Commonwealth Scholar at Oxford University, where he earned a Master of Science degree. Patrick earned his A.B. degree at Harvard College in Environmental Science. He is a member of the New York and Massachusetts bars, an elected director of the Harvard Alumni Association, and a member of the Committee to Visit Harvard College.
 
Sergio Monsalve, Partner, Norwest Venture Partners
Sergio brings to NVP extensive operational and venture capital experience from a wide range of business and consumer technology companies. Sergio is focused on early and growth investments in ecommerce, consumerized SaaS, consumer finance, and educational technologies. His current investments and board seats include Adaptive Insights, Gemvara, Good.co, Motif Investing, Rafter, and Udemy. Sergio was previously on the board of The DealMap (acquired by Google), myYearbook (acquired by Quepasa), and StarCite (acquired by The Active Network). He is a board observer at InsightsOne and Lending Club. Sergio started his career at Morgan Stanley, where he advised several companies on mergers and acquisitions. Sergio was also a marketing and business development manager at Portal Software (now part of Oracle) which had a successful Initial Public Offering in 1999, during his tenure. Sergio was also the co-founder and first business development executive at Cymerc, which was a hosted SaaS solution for consumers and small-sized businesses. Sergio successfully raised two rounds of venture financing and grew Cymerc from inception to more than $15 million in sales. From 2001 to 2005, Sergio was Director of the Mobile Electronics Categories at eBay, which he grew from $150 million to more than $500 in gross merchandise sales. Prior to NVP, Sergio was Vice President of Marketing at Photobucket, which was successfully sold to News Corp. for $300 million in 2007. Sergio was born and raised in Latin America and has worked in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. Sergio holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor of science degree in management sciences and engineering (industrial engineering) from Stanford University.
 
Dan Ahn, Managing Partner & Co-Founder, Envision Ventures
Dan Ahn, is the Managing Partner & Co-Founder, Envision Ventures, a venture fund formed by entrepreneurs to help entrepreneurs succeed in changing the world. His current areas of interest are software for Big Data, Security and IoT. While he can invest at any stage, he'd prefer to get to know entrepreneurs early, even before they incorporate. Prior to Envision, he was a Managing Director at Voyager Capital, where he led the firm's Silicon Valley investment activity, and the firm's investments in Art2Wave, Autogrid, ChargePoint, ClearCare, MindSumo, Vidder, Wise.io. Prior to Voyager, Dan was a Managing Director at Woodside Fund, where invested in or was the founding VC in numerous successful companies, all in the IT space. Prior to Woodside, Dan was an entrepreneur, having co-founded and been President of EndPoint Technologies, which was later acquired by Applied Materials. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the violin in the Symphony Parnassus in San Francisco and spending time with his family. Dan has an AB from Harvard College and MBA from Harvard Business School.
