Are you interested in transforming your weekday off by making a significant community impact and helping students grow in their writing skills?

Then join HCSF for a podcasting field trip organized by 826 Valencia with students at 826's Tenderloin Center! In this program, we'll work with students to craft poems about their personal identities. You'll help students create vivid, compelling, and reflective podcasts, and record their pieces with style and confidence. The event is the perfect way to inspire a student to grow in their creative abilities, while also learning more about the innovative and important work that 826 Valencia does in our community.

In the morning you will work with students as they brainstorm, write, and revise their poems and in the afternoon you will help prepare students to record their podcasts and explore audio editing and online publishing (no previous audio production experience necessary!).

Through this event, you will encourage youth as they create podcasts that will engage and inspire a listening audience, and be featured on 826's SoundCloud page, 826 Valencia's Message in a Bottle.

About 826 Valencia: 826 Valencia is a nonprofit founded in 2002 by author Dave Eggers and educator Nínive Calegari that is dedicated to supporting under-resourced students ages six to eighteen with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Their centers in the Mission and Tenderloin neighborhoods provide a magical setting where students are provided homework help, writing support, and encouragement from caring adults.

Note: ticket price is to cover the cost of lunch!
