Nature hike at Montara MountainCANCELLED DUE TO RAIN - Nature hike at Montara Mountain

Come out to enjoy early wildflowers and beautiful ocean views.

Just south of San Francisco, Montara Mountain offers views of the ocean, Pacifica and San Francisco, the Marin headlands, and the bay. It’s also lush with plants, and even this early in wildflower season a few should be in bloom—likely including the mountain’s many manzanitas, a lovely stretch of silk tassel trees, and possibly a few of the beautiful fetid adder’s tongues. We'll hike a ~7-mile loop from the San Pedro Valley Park parking area to the top of the mountain and back, enjoying a lunch picnic mid-way through. The hike is moderate to strenuous, depending on your fitness level, with much of it on a steady incline (total elevation change about ~1650 feet).

Additional Information: San Pedro Valley Park charges a $6 parking fee; please bring cash in case there is not a parking attendant. Meet in front of the restrooms at the back of the parking lot. To carpool, please sign up at https://www.groupcarpool.com/t/m9zquo.
