20 Stars Who Made America Amazing – a Graphic Novel for Families
Join co-authors, Oliver Chin (Harvard College, A.B., 1991) and Phil Amara, and illustrator Juan Calle. This spectacularly illustrated anthology profiles of 10 Asian-American women and 10 Asian-American men whose remarkable contributions helped shape our country.
The two authors share their inspirations behind this socially relevant collection and read favorite excerpts. Plus have a pencil and paper handy - Juan shows how to create cool comic book art in a live drawing demonstration!

Speaker Bios:
Co-author Oliver Chin ('91) was the cartoonist for the Harvard Crimson. He founded the San Francisco publisher Immedium (www.immedium.com), and wrote the children's series Tales from the Chinese Zodiac and Julie Black Belt.
Co-author Phil Amara is an elementary school teacher at Boston Public. He wrote The Treehouse Heroes and The Nevermen, and was an editor at Dark Horse Comics on Predator, Terminator, Aliens, and Planet of the Apes.
Artist Juan Calle has illustrated many children's books including The Asian Hall of Fame series (The Discovery of Ramen, Fireworks & Gunpowder, and Anime & Manga). He founded the art studio Liberum Donum in Bogota, Colombia.
