Join us at our HBSANC New Venture Competition (NVC) Western Regional Finals and Networking Night. This year, HBS, Harvard, and MIT alumni-founded startups from Northern and Southern CA, and Washington and Colorado are competing for the title of Western Regionals NVC Winner. Come watch our top 5-6 startups finalists pitch to a panel of esteemed judges, and a winner will be announced! We will have an incredible evening of networking, entertainment, and innovation.

The HBSANC Western Regional New Venture Competition (NVC) serves as a launch pad for innovative new ventures from HBS, Harvard, and MIT alumni by providing access and exposure to potential investors, mentors, and advisors. The annual event is sponsored globally by Harvard Business School's Rock Center for Entrepreneurship and regionally by Harvard Business School Association of Northern California.

Our Organizers:

Vince Lane, HBSANC Board Member, Chair of Entrepreneurship, and NVC Co-Chair
Vince is an experienced investor and entrepreneur with many years of cross border experience in founding and investing in multiple companies, strategic planning, venture capital, technology, digital entertainment and investment management. His current focus is on new frontier technologies including Artificial intelligence(AI), Web3 and gaming. Mr. Lane is Co-founder and Managing Partner of Mav3rick Ventures and sits on numerous advisory boards.  Vince serves as HBSANC's Board and Chair of Entrepreneurship that includes Start Up Partners.

Maya Krish, HBSANC Executive Director and NVC Co-Chair

Maya Krish is the Executive Director of HBSANC.  She previously served as the Director of Programs and Entrepreneurship.  Maya has chaired the New Venture Competition for five years, creating mentoring, networking, and career fulfilling opportunities for budding entrepreneurs across Northern California.  Prior to HBSANC, Maya ran her own ventures in both the wellness and financial sectors and served as a healthcare executive and consultant for over 10 years. She has a MS in Healthcare Management from Harvard and bachelors degrees in Moleculary Biology and Economics from the University of CA Berkeley.

Joe Grimes, HBSASC VP of Communications, Co-Chair of StartUp Partners, and NVC Co-Chair

         
Joe Grimes is VP of Communications and Co-Chair of Startup Partners of HBS Association of Southern CA
He is also the Co-Chair of the Western Regional New Venture Competition. Prior to retiring from Fannie Mae in March 2019, Joe served as the Vice President of Third Party Risk Management & MSR Financing for the Single Family Business. Joe has a BA in history and political science from Kenyon College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

 
Cathy Benko, NVC Judging Committee Chair
HBS 1989. Former Deloitte Vice Chairman, best-selling author and U.S. patent holder, Cathy is known as a strategist, innovative thinker and market cultivator. These strengths are evidenced throughout her career traversing senior operational appointments and market-facing client service roles for global companies and digital giants alike.  Cathy currently serves as a member of the board of two NYSE-listed companies, NIKE, Inc. and SolarWinds, and pre-IPO company, WorkBoard. She is a long-standing  member of the Band of Angels and adviser to several start-ups and private companies.

Elyse Kim, HBSANC Co-VP of Sponsorships
Elyse serves as VP of Sponsorships on the HBSANC Leadership team. She works in Corporate Development at Google where she leads M&A diligence and integration processes. Previously, she was a Chief of Staff at Google and has held strategy roles at JPMorgan and American Express with a focus on advertising and digital commerce. She has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Economics and Marketing from Wharton.

Tyler X. Colin, HBSANC Co-VP of Sponsorships
Tyler is a Co-Founder at Sostena, Inc. and Managing Member at Everbound Capital Management. Tyler received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and graduated from the OPM program at Harvard Business School. Tyler serves as co-VP of Sponsorships on the HBSANC Leadership team.
