Community Service Event: 1951 Coffee Company in Oakland
Join us to help support the graduates of 1951 Coffee Company’s 6th adult barista training cohort and enjoy some delicious coffee!
1951 Coffee Company is a non-profit specialty coffee organization seeking to promote the well-being of the refugee community in the Bay Area. 1951 provides job training and employment to refugees and asylees while educating the surrounding community about refugee life and issues.
Our community service event at 1951 Coffee Company will kick off with a discussion about the important work 1951 does with the Bay Area's refugee community. After the conversation, we'll do English language practice and mock customer sessions with adult trainees in 1951's practice cafe – and you'll get all the free coffee you can drink!
Following our session, there will be an open house and graduation ceremony for the 1951 barista trainees. This will be a very memorable and unique experience, and you'll have an opportunity to help refugees who have fled oppression from all over the world.
