Community Service Event: 826 Valencia Podcasting Field Trip
Help students explore the world of audio storytelling as they write their own podcasts!
Join HCSF for a podcasting field trip organized by 826 Valencia! In this program, we'll work with 3rd graders from DeAvila Elementary School as they write, edit, and prepare to record their writing. DeAvila Elementary is a Cantonese immersion school, but no experience or Chinese language skills are required.
About 826 Valencia: 826 Valencia is a nonprofit founded in 2002 by author Dave Eggers and educator Nínive Calegari that is dedicated to supporting under-resourced students ages six to eighteen with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Their centers in the Mission and Tenderloin neighborhoods provide a magical setting where students are provided homework help, writing support, and encouragement from caring adults.
Note: Please do not commit to this event unless you are certain you can attend, as 826 Valencia will be relying on your contributions.
