Community Service Event: Lake Merritt Habitat Restoration
Join us in restoring one of the Bay Area's most treasured natural spaces and protecting local bird habitats!
Join us at Lake Merritt for a hands-on environmental stewardship event in partnership with the Lake Merritt Conservancy (LMC) and Golden Gate Bird Alliance. We'll help restore native habitat by removing invasive plants and caring for the park's beautiful landscape.
Along the way, you'll learn about Lake Merritt's unique ecosystem and hear from Golden Gate Bird Alliance volunteers about the resident and migratory birds that call the lake home.
No experience is necessary—all are welcome! We encourage participants to wear a hat, comfortable clothing, and closed-toed shoes. Gloves will be provided (though you're welcome to bring your own), and LMC will supply all tools and materials needed.

Parking: Street parking is available outside Lakeside Park premises. To park inside Lakeside Park, tell the Parking Kiosk attendant at the Bellevue Avenue entrance kiosk that you are volunteering for the City's Parks Department and Lake Merritt Conservancy to waive the day fee of $5.
BART: Exit 19th Street Oakland Station. Walk East on Harrison Street, then turn right on Grand Ave. Turn left (South) on Bellevue Avenue to enter the Park and arrive at the Edoff Memorial Bandstand.
