King Mountain Hike & Art Fair
Back by popular demand - our most sought after hike!
The Kings Mountain Art Fair has taken place every Labor Day weekend for 60 years and showcases original fine arts and crafts under the redwoods. The art on display is upscale and quite enjoyable. The fair is a fundraiser for the King Mountain elemenary school and they have terrific lemonade, baked goods and food available - it's quite a festive event.

Starting point: Zwierlein parking lot: 37°26'33.0""N 122°17'28.2""W
Distance: ~ 7.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 1500' Moderate
Est. Time: 5-6 hours
Parking: $6.00 pay by credit card at machine if entrance book not staffed, but bring cash just in case
Restrooms are available at the trailhead and at the Kings Mountain Art Fair.
Dogs are not allowed.

We will hike from Huddart Park in Woodside up to the fair on Skyline Blvd avoiding the traffic and limited parking along Skyline.

The hike begins at the parking lot nearest to the Zwierlein picnic area. If that lot is full continue along the road as there are several more picnic areas that will have parking and then walk back to Zwierlein.
We start on the Crystal Springs trail, following it for a short distance before picking up the Dean trail. After about 2 miles we rejoin the Crystal Springs trail, following it to the Richards Road trail which takes us to the Skyline trail. This trail parallels Skyline Blvd. Turn right on the Skyline trail and short 1/4 mile walk along brings us to the fair. After spending time to view the art and eat lunch we retrace our steps to return to the staring point.
We will determine a meeting point and a departure time from the art fair for those who would like to hike down in a group. For the rest be sure to carry a copy of the trail map and directions.

What to Bring:
Have a good breakfast to start your day. Although the trail is mostly shaded, sunblock and a hat are recommended, along with plenty of water. Dressing in layers with is a good idea. Bring snacks and a lunch if not planning to purchase food at the fair.

About 30 minutes from Sunnyvale, roughly 45 minutes from San Francisco
