Come meet Bob Ching, Chairman of the Harvard Club of Shanghai, who will talk on: Deng Xiaoping and the Transformation of China, based on a book by Ezra Vogel, long-time Chair of Harvard's East Asia Studies Department.
Bob, a native of Shanghai, is a 1964 graduate of Caltech and 1965 grad of Harvard (in physics), with a PhD in Economics from Carnegie-Mellon; he has taught Economics at Carnegie-Mellon and Physics at National Taiwan University. He was a management consultant for Boston Consulting Group for over 30 years, and an investment manager for Morningside (China). Since 2007, this remarkable man and his wife have been a mentor and financial supporter for students at the Shanghai Normal University. He is the recipient of the Magnolia Medal from the Municipality of Shanghai.
