The Founders Series
Each quarter we will feature Harvard alumni who have taken the plunge and started their own venture here in the Bay area.
This September, join us in welcoming Parker Conrad (AB '02) and Mike Sha (AB '02, SM ‘02), who co-founded Wikinvest in 2006.
A Preview of What to Expect
As roommates at Harvard, Parker and Mike day-traded together until the internet bubble burst, when they considered there was more to investing than just picking the tech stock du jour. Once they had dedicated themselves to researching market opportunities and realized how hard it was to find useful information, the two joined to create a website that made investment research more transparent and accessible.
Now with almost 1,000,000 monthly uniques, Wikinvest is a premier destination for professional-grade investment resources. Just this summer, Wikinvest launched an online portfolio tracker which Barron's deemed "already the best of its kind."
Parker and Mike will share some of their experiences and challenges as they turned a back-of-the-napkin concept into one of the preeminent online financial information platforms. From concept formulation, to business plans, and fundraising, this behind-the-scenes talk will be of great interest to anyone who wants to launch an idea into a real business. Join us to hear an exciting content and to meet entrepreneurial-minded alumni at mixers before and after the talk.
