berkeley-symphony-feb-1-2Berkeley Symphony Concert in San Francisco

Please join us on Friday, February 2nd at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, 50 Oak St, in San Francisco for a joint event hosted by Radcliffe Club of San Francisco.

Guest Conductor Keitaro Harada leads Berkeley Symphony in Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, the Bay Area’s own Gordon Getty’s Joan and the Bells, and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique.

Music of the heavens and hell -- Fauré’s setting of paraphrased sacred texts is paired with Getty’s cantata, inspired by the canonized Joan of Arc. Soprano Lisa Delan has enjoyed international acclaim since performing the title role in the 1998 world premiere. The program concludes with Berlioz’s obsessive and hallucinatory masterpiece.

RCSF and Berkeley Symphony board members Tricia Swift and Kathy Henschel will host pre-performance refreshments from 7-8pm in the lower-level café (look for the Radcliffe and Harvard crests), and the concert begins at 8pm.
