White Pony Express is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to helping eliminate hunger and poverty in Contra Costa County by delivering the abundance all around us to those in need. It includes three programs: food rescue; clothing, toys, and children’s books giveaways; and the White Pony Inn, which addresses homelessness. Services are provided free of charge, and the programs are operated 100% by volunteers. Through its food rescue and unique “mobile boutique” programs, White Pony Express freely redistributes high quality food, clothing, and children’s books and toys to neighbors in need.

We invite you, your family, and friends to join us for a morning of volunteering with White Pony Express, helping with either the food rescue program or in the clothing and toy preparation workshop.

Sign up to volunteer in either the food rescue or the clothing and toy program.

Food rescue involves sorting, distributing, and loading fresh surplus food for delivery to recipients by regularly scheduled food runners. It requires some lifting and bending. Wear comfortable casual clothes.

Clothing and toy preparation involves standing or sitting to sort clothing and toy donations and prepare them to be given to recipients directly through partner nonprofits or at Mobile Boutiques throughout the County.

We welcome friends and family members of all ages, but we ask that children under 12 be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver and release form during orientation; anyone under 18 will need to have it signed by a parent or guardian.

Please register by November 19, 2015.
