GUEST OF HONOR
Lawrence H. Summers was the 27th President of Harvard. In addition, he served as 71st Secretary of the Treasury in the Clinton Administration, as Director of the White House National Economic Council in the Obama Administration, and as Chief Economist of the World Bank.
Lawrence Summers received his Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from Harvard. He became a full professor at Harvard University when he was 28, one of the youngest in Harvard’s history. He is currently the Charles W. Eliot Professor of Harvard University and directs the University’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government.
Summers serves on the board of directors of several cutting-edge companies, including Square, Lending Club, and Premise Data. He chairs the boards of Citizen Schools and the Center for Global Development. He serves on the board of Teach for America and ONE. He is an advisor to The Hamilton Project, The Hutchins Center on Fiscal & Monetary Policy and the Peterson Institute for International Economics. He is a distinguished senior fellow at the Center for American Progress and recently co-chaired CAP’s Commission on Inclusive Prosperity. He also recently chaired Lancet’s Global Commission on Investing in Health.
Summers’ tenure at the U.S. Treasury coincided with the longest period of sustained economic growth in U.S. history. President Clinton said that Larry Summers “has the rare ability to see the world that is taking shape and the skill to help to bring it into being.” Upon Summers’ departure from the White House, President Obama said, “I will always be grateful that at a time of great peril for our country, a man of Larry’s brilliance, experience and judgment was willing to answer the call and lead our economic team.”
THE EVENT
The Harvard Club of San Francisco’s Annual Membership Dinner is HCSF’s most popular event of the year. Club officers will be recommended by our Nominating Committee, and members have a chance to vote on who will guide the Club in the coming year. We also recognize the service of the Club’s officers who are continuing their term, as well as outgoing officers and Past Presidents. Club President Eli Salomon will speak at the conclusion of the dinner. We urge all our members to join us in warmly welcoming Lawrence H. Summers to the Harvard Club of San Francisco at what promises to be a spectacular evening!
THE CLUB
Founded in 1874, the Harvard Club of San Francisco is the oldest non-profit organization in the city. HCSF puts on about 120 activities per year, conducts alumni interviews for all Harvard College applicants from the area, and maintains a scholarship endowment to help fund the need-based financial aid of Harvard undergrads from the Bay Area.

Sponsorships
The dinner also provides an opportunity to for us to showcase our sponsors to our diverse community. HCSF is a non-profit organization that does not receive any funding from Harvard University. HCSF puts on about 120 activities per year, conducts alumni interviews for all Harvard College applicants from the area, and maintains a scholarship endowment to help fund the need-based financial aid of Harvard undergrads from the Bay Area. We try very hard to keep events affordable for all Harvard alumni – particularly to those who are giving back to their local communities. We offer special support for recent grads, senior alumni, and alumni working in low-income, public interest positions. This is made possible by the generous support of our sponsors. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, a portion of sponsorships for HCSF are tax deductible.
For this year’s Annual Dinner, we are offering sponsorship levels with the following benefits. Sponsorship costs are reduced 50% for other non-profit organizations.
