Community Service:  Volunteer with Excelsior Works! Food Security Program

Did you know that thousands of families in the Bay Area go hungry each day? Founded in 2015, Excelsior Works! in the Excelsior neighborhood of San Francisco is leading the charge in eliminating hunger, feeding over 300 families (~900 people) in this historic SF neighborhood. These families rely on programs like Excelsior Works to ensure that they have proper nutrition and food on the table.

This volunteering event will give you an opportunity to meaningfully contribute to Excelsior Works' mission and help feed hundreds of people by rolling up your sleeves and getting to work in serving these families. The event is for four volunteers, split into two portions:

  • 2 volunteers from 11am-1pm: helping with unloading and prep for families to receive their food -- please be willing and able to carry packages that weigh up to 50 lbs!
  • 2 volunteers from 1pm-3pm: serving food to families in the Excelsior district! If you are a Spanish speaker, then this role is perfect for you!

Please note that this is an indoor volunteering activity, and please come prepared with suitable mask and other protection.
