Attention HBS Alumni: Are you an innovator or early-stage entrepreneur? The Harvard Business School Association of Northern California (HBSANC) invites all early stage startups founded by HBS alumni to participate in the New Venture Competition. This is part of a worldwide competition, starting at the regional level here in Northern California, after which the winner will advance to the global finals in March with a chance to win over $75,000 in cash and in-kind prizes!

About the Speakers:
Brent Blackaby, Co-Founder of Confidently and 2020 NVC Participant
Confidently has built an employee data privacy solution that helps organizations reduce the threat of phishing and social engineering attacks, which are responsible for nearly 80% of data breaches. Confidently deletes employee PII from companies that shouldn't have it, reducing the attack surface for the enterprise while enhancing individual privacy. We also provide companies with new threat intelligence, based on signals received from employees' personal data exposure, that identifies potential security threats in advance. Confidently was a finalist in the 2020 NVC.
Ann Kletz, Founder of Goal Five and 2020 NVC Winner
Ann Kletz brings 25 years of start-up and management expertise to help mission-driven companies and organizations assemble great teams, launch, scale and succeed. Her extensive background also includes fundraising, strategy consulting, social entrepreneur, meeting facilitation, project director for large-scale initiatives and events, executive and leadership coaching, and corporate philanthropy. Kletz played four years of Division I soccer for Harvard University, and she is an inaugural recipient of the Washington D.C. based Fund for Social Entrepreneurs. Her startup, Goal Five, which is focused on performance gear for women, was the winner of the 2020 NVC.

Vince Lane, HBSANC Board Member and Chair of Entrepreneurship and StartUp Partners
Vince is an experienced investor and entrepreneur with 20+ years of cross border experience in founding and investing in multiple companies, strategic planning, venture capital, technology, digital entertainment and investment management. Mr. Lane is the Managing Partner of Mav3rick Ventures and advisor to multiple funds, family offices and boards. Vince is involved with Web3 & Blockchain and serves as the Chair of Entrepreneurship and StartUp Partners as well as on the Board of Directors for Harvard Business School Alumni Association Northern California.

Maya Krish, HBSANC Executive Director and NVC Co-Chair
Maya Krish is the Executive Director of HBSANC. She previously served as the Director of Programs and Entrepreneurship, and began her time at HBSANC as the Director of StartUp Partners. Maya has chaired the One Harvard New Venture Competition for three years. She has journeyed with many startups at HBSANC - created mentoring, networking, and career fulfilling opportunities for budding entrepreneurs across Northern California. Prior to HBSANC, Maya ran her own ventures in both the wellness and financial sectors. She also served as a healthcare executive and consultant for over 10 years. She has a MS in Healthcare Management from Harvard and bachelors degrees in Moleculary Biology and Economics from UC Berkeley.
Susan Hailey, HBSANC Board Chair and NVC Co-Chair
Susan Hailey is one of the leading Talent Acquisition and HR leaders in the United States. She is an accomplished executive known for leading turnarounds of complex organizations in the corporate and non-profit sectors. She was most recently the Vice President of Global Talent for OpenText, Corporation ($3.2B and 15,000 employees). Prior to joining OpenText, Susan led Global Talent, Human Resources and Diversity & Inclusion for Medidata Solutions, eBay, PayPal and Caesars Entertainment where she managed large global teams, achieved aggressive hiring goals, and supported people initiatives related to high growth. She is currently serving as the Chair of the Harvard Business School Association of Northern California. She led the organization through Covid and a turnaround, resulting in new leadership, sustainable revenue models and higher member engagement . Susan is an honors graduate of the University of California at Berkeley where she majored in Economics and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. At Cal, she was on the university’s first Women’s Crew team (NCAA Division 1).
